The Swiss Finance Institute (SFI) Master Class «Generative AI and the Finance Industry» introduces the fundamentals of generative AI and large language models (LLMs), with a focus on their applications in finance. Participants will learn how to build AI-driven solutions for tasks such as financial analysis and risk assessment, while leveraging the tools and infrastructure of Google Cloud. Through hands-on workshops and real-world case studies, the course provides practical experience and insights into how generative AI is transforming the financial industry.

Objectives of this Master Class
Among others, the following objectives are pursued:

Master the fundamentals of generative AI by learning about different AI models, including large language models (LLMs), and their capabilities in financial contexts.

Explore real-world applications and discover how generative AI can transform tasks such as financial analysis, risk assessment, and client service.

Gain hands-on experience through interactive workshops and labs, where you will build and deploy your own generative AI solutions on Google Cloud.

Learn industry best practices from expert instructors and Google Cloud professionals, with a focus on responsible AI implementation and ethical considerations.
In addition to expert inputs, the course emphasizes interactive learning formats, break‑out sessions, practical examples, and peer exchange.

The Master Class is co-led by Prof. Markus Leippold (SFI Senior Chair, University of Zurich) and Tobias Kaymak (Customer Engineer, Google Cloud).
- Recognition: The event is accredited as a four‑hour SAQ recertification; participants receive a certificate
- Collaboration: The event is part of the cooperation between the SFI and the University of Zurich
- Participation: Attendance is free of charge for employees of SBA member institutions as well as staff from FINMA and the SNB
