Student Life and Support

Studying at the Department of Finance is about more than acquiring subject knowledge. You can get involved in the department, meet other students, attend events, connect academic learning with professional practice, and become part of an engaged DF Community.

Are you interested in working as a student employee at the Department of Finance or supporting teaching as a tutor? Students support the department's teaching team in all areas. You can find open positions on DF Community Careers.

Many students work as Teaching Assistants at the Teaching Center. As a Teaching Assistant, you support teaching, gain insights into course preparation and delivery, and discover innovative teaching projects.

You can also support teaching as a tutor, for example by moderating forums and/or marking assignments. To express your interest in a tutoring role, send an unsolicited application to tc-support@df.uzh.ch. State which subject you would like to tutor and explain your motivation. Tutoring roles are usually compensated with ECTS credits.

There are also opportunities for student employment in research as a Junior Research Assistant. Other students support the department in administration, event management, IT, and communications.

Finance Club

The Finance Club is one of Switzerland's leading student initiatives in finance. In collaboration with renowned companies and institutions, it gives students insights into different areas of finance, building an important bridge between academia and professional life in Zurich's financial center.

Founded toward the end of the last century, the Finance Club has connected its student members with industry professionals for more than two decades. Today, it has over 2’000 members, making it one of Switzerland's largest and most active student associations.

Fachverein Oekonomie

Fachverein Oekonomie is the official student association representing the Faculty of Business, Economics and Informatics at the University of Zurich. Around 60 active members advocate for students' interests and give them a voice.

The association is involved in university politics, organizes events, and supports first-semester and exchange students. Its aim is to help shape everyday student life and enrich the university experience for all students.

OEC ALUMNI UZH for Students

OEC ALUMNI UZH is the alumni network of the Faculty of Business, Economics and Informatics at the University of Zurich. Even as a student, you can start building valuable contacts for your professional future.

The OEC Mentoring Program helps you prepare for professional life. At OEC ALUMNI UZH events, you can connect with alumni and gain insights into different career paths. You can also get involved in one of the student associations.
